As children of God we are coming more and more into the realization that the “worship experience” is more than just something that might happen on any given Sunday morning, but instead are being compelled by the Holy Spirit to live a “lifestyle of worship.” Once an individual has been saved and has come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is a spiritual shift that has been made in the life of that individual. A relationship with God the Father, God the Son , and God the Holy Spirit has just begun, and a road of transformation has been started in order that the heart of man come in line with the heart of God. This requires more than just accepting the fact that we will have a good “worship experience” every now and then. We sometimes isolate and limit this “worship experience” to - ‘O I really hope they play that song that they played last Sunday, it really got me going, the Spirit was really moving on that song, it had me on my knees and almost had me in tears. Wow what a worship service .’ Instead, our lives should be a worship experience in that of itself. Realizing that God is around 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, not just on Sunday morning or maybe on a Wednesday night. We are in this world, but not of it. Sometimes we need to just knock ourselves in the head and get a glimpse of eternity. Shake ourselves to wake up and realize that we are going to be worshiping our maker forever. I’m not talking about a task that one might dread to do. Instead, I’m talking about developing a relationship with the Father that breeds a burning desire to get into his face and cry out glory and honor and power and praise forever. Some of my most productive and genuine times worshipping God has not been in church, but in my own private time with just he and I. I’ve learned that the more private time I spend with him. I am developing a stronger relationship while developing the ease of worshiping Him in the congregation. I believe that some of the most difficult awkward times we have in congregation worship is a result of the lack of time we spend worshipping God during the week. A husband knows that in order to develop a strong and healthy relationship with his wife, he can’t be gone all week long with no communication and just come in on the weekend. It’s only a matter of time before that relationship goes south. As sad as it seems, there are many Christians doing that very same thing with God. ‘Hey Lord, I’ll be in this weekend so be sure and save me a spot at the table and I’ll be sure to apologize for being gone all week.
